Eaglewood Folk Festival

A one-hour country drive northeast of Toronto brings you to the lakeside town of Pefferlaw in Georgina, and the greatest little folk festival in Ontario. On the fourth weekend of August, folks of all ages and all abilities gather for the Eaglewood Folk Festival for a dose of "fresh air, good vibes and great music!" On August 24, 25, 26, 2012, Eaglewood celebrates its 23rd anniversary, a three-day celebration of diverse and original folk/roots music; a mix of established singer songwriters and new, young talent.

Fresh air abounds at the three outdoor stages, festival activities, trails and camping at the 90-acre Eaglewood Resort & Nature Park. Artists and audiences mingle and share magical moments and musical discoveries during performances and workshops in the intimate woodland clearings.

The children's program musically entertains, inspires and engages children aged 15 and under. This year, acclaimed children's entertainer Jack Grunsky will provide entertainment and also direct the Family Choir which will perform on the main stage after the children's parade on Sunday afternoon. Youth audiences are encouraged to participate in the youth showcase and songwriting workshop and folks of all ages are invited to bring instruments for open stage, jamming and song circles!

It is the performance of "great music" that is the real attraction to this festival; an eclectic mix of singer-songwriter, blues, country, popular, indie/rock, world, aboriginal, jazz, bluegrass, gospel, traditional and contemporary folk music. Music for the people! This year, close to 50 performances will feature many of Canada's top artists, such as Juno nominated Danny Michel who has produced eight albums.

Suzie Vinnick returns to the Eaglewood stage. She has won eight different Maple Blues awards, has been nominated for the Junos three times, and won the Canadian Folk Award for Contemporary Singer of the Year in December 2011. Eaglewood is proud to present recent arrivals to the blues scene, the 24th Street Wailers, nominees for 2012 Maple Blues Award for New Artist/Group of the Year and winners of the 2010 Toronto Blues Society Talent Search.

Other presenting artists include Juno award winner Julian Fauth and highly acclaimed Jaffa Road, Keith & Renee, Gordie Tentrees, Ridley Bent, Mark Reeves, Terra Hazelton, the Strumbellas, Leon Knight & the Neon Lights and many more. Artisans selling hand-crafted wares and an assortment of food vendors are on-site.

Eaglewood is wheelchair accessible and Braille programs are available to sight-impaired attendees.
